"Hezbollah" threatens to target gas platforms in Israel during a "comprehensive war"

Israel's announcement that it shot down a "Hezbollah" drone that was heading towards an Israeli oil field in the Mediterranean Sea raised fears that the "party" intended to target gas fields in Israel, while a dangerous development was recorded in the form of "rocket fragments" falling on a football field in the town of Majdal Shams in the occupied Syrian Golan, which Israel said came from Lebanon.

The "Arab 48" website said that 11 people were injured, "including 5 in critical condition and 6 in serious condition, most of them children, as a result of rocket fragments falling in the town of Majdal Shams in the occupied Syrian Golan, according to initial reports issued by medical teams." Local reports indicated that the rocket fragments fell on a municipal stadium in the town.

Hezbollah's drone

Although initial Israeli data indicated that the drone was for filming only, people close to the party put it within the framework of threatening to target the platforms if the latter decided to expand the war on Lebanon, after the pressures and threats from both sides reached unprecedented levels following the failure of settlement efforts in Gaza.

Israeli officials recently vowed to "change the security reality on the northern front," while Hezbollah has been broadcasting videos for some time of strategic Israeli sites that it says are part of the target bank that will be bombed if Tel Aviv decides to expand the war on Lebanon.

Intercepting a drone heading towards "Karish"
The Israeli army announced on Saturday that it had intercepted a drone that it said was launched from Lebanon, and it believed that it was heading towards the "Karish" gas field in the Mediterranean. It said in a statement that "a missile ship and the air force were able to intercept a drone launched from Lebanon towards Israeli economic waters." Channel 13 suggested that the drone was an “intelligence” drone, while the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth said that “it is still unclear whether the intercepted drone was booby-trapped or for reconnaissance purposes.”

Hezbollah officials refused to comment on the matter, noting that it has become accustomed to not adopting any drones that are shot down or operations that are aborted. Sources familiar with the party’s atmosphere suggested that the drone’s mission was “reconnaissance, and its goal may be to film the platforms to include them in a new part of the videos that the party publishes from time to time, which it says notice strategic targets that it can bomb at any moment,” noting that “sending a drone to bomb the platforms or the field is completely unlikely; because the party realizes that by doing so it is sounding the whistle for the start of a large-scale war that it does not want.”

Strategic Targets Bank

The military expert, retired Brigadier General Dr. Amin Hattit, said that “in the context of the limited war that Hezbollah has been waging against the Israeli enemy since October 8, and after the party achieved its goals from this war to a high degree, the party believes that it does not need the comprehensive war that the enemy needs, so it does not do what leads to slipping into it.” Hattit explained in a statement to Asharq Al-Awsat that “Hezbollah considers the psychological war that enhances deterrence to prevent a large-scale war to be very necessary, so it is waging the confrontation on two tracks: the track of revealing the capabilities and information it possesses, which causes a shock to the enemy, as happened through the three Hoopoe operations, and what was presented about the air capabilities that the party possesses. As for the second track, it is by emphasizing its readiness and seriousness in dealing with the enemy’s major strategic targets bank,” noting that “the process of sending drones over gas and oil platforms comes in this context.”

Rockets Reach Kiryat Shmona
The party continued its operations on Saturday, targeting espionage equipment at the Misgav Am site and the Jardah point in the occupied Palestinian territories. Israeli media reported that sirens sounded in Kiryat Shmona and its surroundings in the Galilee Finger.

The Israeli occupation army announced the interception of a drone that it said was launched from Lebanon, and is believed to have been heading towards the Karish gas field in the Mediterranean Sea.

For its part, the Israeli Channel 13 reported that the drone was likely an intelligence drone, while the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth said that it is still unclear whether the intercepted drone was booby-trapped or for reconnaissance purposes.
